New Year action from Fernie
Here are a few words and photos from the first few days of our new year trips in Fernie, courtesy of Jay from our three week ski instructor course (apologies for it being a little late!)
This week marked the beginning of several nonstop courses, including the 2 Week and 3 Week Improvement Courses, the 3 Week Level 1 Instructor Courses and the Snow Safari.
On the first day, we had orientation and headed up to the slopes to enjoy the fresh powder! In the evening we had dinner at the Red Tree Restaurant with our groups and instructors, as we mingled and discussed the fun days ahead.
Over the next three days, we got into lessons on the Fernie slopes, which were accompanied by a few more 'flurries' of snow and afternoon drinks in the Griz Bar.
Thursday night, we headed across the road to support the Fernie Ghostriders - for some of us, this was our first Canadian Ice Hockey experience and it turned out to be an exciting game (with a few fights and a winning score).
New Years Eve turned out to be a crazy night at the Red Tree Lodge after a chilly day on the hill (-28 at the peak!). Everyone dressed up as something that started with the first letter of their name with best costumes including a Jamaican bobsleigher and Tinkerbell. The bar was busy and the retro DJ had the party going all night long as everybody let go of their inhibitons on the dancefloor! Cheers to a wild night NONSTOPers, and Happy New Year!
