NONSTOP Fail Academy

People who go on NONSTOP courses come away feeling like kings of the mountain. Let's face it; when you're intensively trained by some of the best coaches in Canada it's bound to happen. We're always seeing videos posted up by NONSTOPpers nailing their first cliff drop, 360s, silkily flowing through head high moguls or getting face shots in waist deep powder.

However, all is not as perfect as it seems...

Fernie cedar bowl

Here's Nigel on the 11 week course at Fernie nailing (getting nailed on) one of his first backflip attempts. A bunch of them went up to hill at the weekend and spent a couple of hours going huge on a home made kicker. Doing this kind of thing is exactly why we encourage people to go up to the hill on their free days. Going out with your mates and pushing each other to improve and try new things will accelerate your development and motivation...unless you land on your face.

On our Snow Safari JF always likes to push it a bit at the end of the trip, especially when it dumps and you're cat-boarding. He's known to employ the "catch me if you can" approach.

I did my 11 week course in Fernie three years ago, and we had nearly 12 metres of snow. My favourite natural hit was out on the far side of cedar bowl, infamously named "the witches tip". It was a great shape and hand a clean steep landing. Being back in Fernie for the first time a month ago, I couldn't not go back and hit it again. On the approach it didn't quite look the same, but my mate convinced me it was fine and I should go for it. His last words were "all you have to do is clear the bush".

Our marketing director Pete came to NONSTOP straight out of two seasons pushing it in Chamonix, we were expecting big things from the big man. He heralds this as one of his finest moments on a snowboard.

Remember, if you're not falling over, you're not trying hard enough.
