January Blues?… not in Fernie!
Here’s an update from Ian on our 3 week ski instructor course in Fernie...
Now almost half way in to our 3 week ski instructor course, the mileage is beginning to pay off. Five wanabee instructors, Will, Sam and Alex in their teens and twenties with Andy and me, the eldest, by far, bringing up the rear.
Nonstop’s ski instructor’s know the mountain and know where to find the best stashes but Colleen has yet to find somewhere that the spring lambs of the group won’t throw themselves off, over or down. In fact usually all three! But hey you say this is supposed to be an instructor course, you’re not meant to be enjoying the steeps and pow are you? The hell we are! That’s what we’re here for. We’ll think about the instructing when we have to next week.
So, for now two weeks throwing ourselves off the mountain with pow keeps us more than happy and a week of instructor training seems a fair deal to me. That’s not to say Collen isn’t doing a brilliant job of developing and challenging our skills, but boy do we sleep well!
