Fernie Three Week Course - Week Two

This week we swapped the pros around the groups. This is a great way to learn from different coaches with new techniques and styles. Jono and Wendy are taking care of the skiers and James is leading the charge for our snowboarders...

The gang was prepped for their instructor exams with a tech session focussed on Level 1 expectations. They were also treated to a Working As a Instructor Session where they learnt a lot about what to expect from working in the industry. Luckily enough we had Kelly join us from RCR; Kelly does all of the hiring for our snow school and so was an amazing source of knowledge and advice for our crew. Kelly explained qualities required and helpful techniques to be hired both locally and internationally. We also had a few local and international pros tell their stories and give advice to our current students.

The Group Were Treated To The Legendary Fernie Inversion - Skiing and Riding Above The Clouds

On our day off snow we headed up to Cranbrook to sort out last minute visa and social insurance numbers for all so that they can start work locally. We also managed to sneak in a bit of retail therapy whilst we were there.

Returning to Fernie we headed out into the backcountry in search for our newly formed family’s Christmas tree. We found our Charlie Brown style Christmas tree and made our way to the famous Canadian Tire. Once there we found some decorations and a stand and their house is now officially festive.

A few more lessons brought us back to the Griz for an après session to wrap up the week. We finished a busy week with the local Hockey Team game. with the local Ghostriders taking on their rivals from Creston. Go Ghostriders! Then it was a well earned day off to prep for the CSIA and CASI Level 1 examinations next week.
