Master The Mountain Course Diary - Week Two
We started our action packed week with a Canadian winter camping survival night. It was a blast! An opportunity learn to build your own snow quinzhee, build a fire in the snow, enjoy the camp fire with treats and sleep in your hand made costume built snow shelter...

At the beginning of the week Andrea Gris, a local who works at Fernie Physio, came and delivered an injury prevention and stretching Tech Session. Andrea came to the Red Tree Lodge and limbered up our guys and demonstrated some valuable warm up routines. It’s inevitable that sports related injuries will happen but we do our best to minimize our trips to the clinics.

The MTM gang ventured over to the Fernie Curling Rink to test their luck curling rocks into the House. The crew split into teams of eight for a friendly. Big thanks to locals Wally and Frank for hosting, and for teaching the gang the ropes.
Pretty sure there is some illegal (or at least un-sporting) use of the brush going on there
We lucked out with a few powder days leading up to the exciting cat ski day. A couple of great days to practice riding off piste and fuel the excitement of skiing in the backcountry.
The Griz Bar hosted an après for the crew to reminisce the glory of another week flying by, breathe in the fresh mountain air and raise a glass to the great times had so far.
A great place to end an action packed day on the hill

The Master the Mountain course is a six week program that gives you the best possible training in big mountain skiing or riding. It's an ideal course for a career break, culminating in a trip to a remote backcountry lodge accessed by helicopter. The ski camps and snowboard courses are a great way to make sure that you don't just cruise around on the mountain, but that you actually improve. They are great fun, super sociable and you come away being able to tackle terrain you could only have imagined before your Nonstop program. Come and join us in Fernie and find out for yourself.
