Fernie Camp Diaries - Griz Days
The Griz days have finally arrived, a local favorite weekend in Fernie for many! Filled with events, shows, parades, dances, craft fairs, competitions, and fun times...The Griz - rumoured to bring the legendary Fernie powder
Our snowboard technical director James Hyland podiumed in the Griz-Man competition. It's a competition based on a pancake eating race, old fashioned tug-o-war, Griz obstacle course, and looks to be the hairiest beast in town.
The weekend culminated with a short but sweet parade through town, it was a chilly night but that didn’t stop the locals and their children lining the streets of 2nd Ave.
The lumberjack competition in full swing (sorry!)
Everyone followed the parade to the Aquatic Center for beer tents, live music, a lumberjack competition, fireworks, and all round a cold fun night in the mountains.
During the week, Nonstop pros Ryan and Lucia ran a tuning and waxing tech session. It's always fun to learn new techniques that help lead to success sliding down the slopes. Most took part in an amazing day cat skiing over at Fernie Wilderness Adventures, a fun day exploring the backcountry. All our pros joined a farewell dinner to see off new friends and say so long to some future ski buddies.
