A Season in Fernie: Watch How It Went Down

In the winter of 2015/16, 31 year old Jamie from London took part in our 11 week instructor course in Fernie. Each week he put together a vlog to share his experiences. Check them all out below and be sure to watch the season highlights edit at the end. Seriously good times were had!

WEEK 1

Jamie introduces himself and acclimatizes to the great snow conditions in Fernie in his first ski lessons. He also has a go at snowshoeing and finishes a busy first week in the hot tub.

Week 2

After getting down to some serious skiing in moguls and trees, Jamie tries out curling, sees a local ice hockey match and rips around on a snowmobile!

Week 3

As he begins to make some serious progression in his skiing, Jamie also tries out cross country skiing for the first time, as well as fat biking and ice skating.

Week 4

In the midst of preparing for his Level 1 exam next week, he is also introduced to backcountry skiing in addition to avalanche awareness training.

Week 5

Level 1 exam week! After learning he has successfully qualified as an instructor, Jamie heads over to Whitefish resort in Montana, USA, to celebrate with his group with some insane powder skiing.

Week 6

Jamie decides to go down the All Mountain Pro route rather than training for his CSIA level 2; in his first week he gets to grips with boxes in the terrain park before experiencing the best now yet on a cat skiing trip.

Week 7

Heli skiing... need we say more?

Week 8

Jamie continues his progression in the terrain park, stepping up his game to rails from boxes. There is also a synchronised skiing competition with the other groups before closing the week out with some camp fire action.

Week 9

Jamie skis down the famous Currie Bowl in Fernie before some intense slalom lessons. The group get to watch some professional snowboard slalom and Jamie gets some more avalanche training!

Week 10

Hot Dog day in Fernie… imagine a mountain where everyone is dressed like it’s the 80's. Meanwhile on the skiing front, Jamie continues to progress his freestyle skills.
