Break through barriers in your ski technique, whilst exploring the very best terrain. Don't waste precious time hunting down the best areas of the mountain, let our highly qualified team of coaches take you there from the first day.
Please note: we are no longer running this camp duration for the 23/24 season as part our a sustainability drive to reduce carbon per day through longer trips. For a great alternative, check out our 2 week all-mountain improver camp.
Fernie Alpine Resort's consistent snow record and exciting terrain make it the perfect place to spend a one week vacation. Although you may not want to leave!
Rolling Stone magazine called it "North America's Coolest Town" and that infectious vibe spreads onto the slopes.
On average 48cm of snow falls in Fernie per week, which means there are a ridiculous amount of powder days. The sheer size and availability of terrain to suit all standards of skiers is breathtaking. There are more trails and a higher vertical than anywhere else in the Canadian Rockies.
Exploring a resort on your own is fun, and so is joining the resort's ski school, but there's so much more to experience. Our pros aren't your typical ski school instructors. They are only the most experienced and highly qualified skiers who will boost your confidence around the whole mountain.
They train every skill level and spend a lot of their time actually teaching other instructors! There really isn’t anyone better prepared to guide you around this sensational alpine resort.
As well as taking you straight to the sweetest spots on the mountain from day one, they will also share tips, drills and feedback that will boost your technique and broaden your horizons.
The best way to learn and progress is with people of similar ability with similar goals. For intermediate skiers who enjoy cruising on groomed runs, our improvement courses will take your skiing to the next level. Our coaches will tighten up all aspects of your technique on groomed trails, before transitioning onto more advanced terrain to test your skills.
Experienced skiers may wish to challenge themselves in more difficult terrain. Our coaches won’t waste any time in showing you the best powder stashes. The course will push you, developing your technique and confidence in Fernie’s legendary terrain and powder.
A selection of activities for more mountain fun...
Technical sessions: get the most out of your skiing with weekly sessions covering topics such as ski tuning, stretching & injury prevention, the history of skiing, equipment advice and nutrition.
Our own hotel, the Red Tree Lodge, acts as the official hub of the course. When the Red Tree gets fully booked we accommodate people at the nearby Best Western; it’s a 5 minute walk away. This causes the overall cost to be more expensive due to the Best Western’s higher rates – so booking early is recommended!
There is the choice of shared or private rooms - regardless of whether you are travelling alone. Rooms are spacious with queen sized beds, en suite bathrooms and widescreen TVs. Breakfats will be served at your hotel & inclusive evening meals are served at the Smokehouse, on site at the Red Tree Lodge. There are plenty more bars, restaurants and shops within a short walk.
Each morning we'll take you on a short bus ride to the mountain, where your skis are stored overnight, ready for an epic day on the slopes!
Already got accommodation in Fernie?
For those who live in Fernie, or have already secured accommodation in Fernie, we can offer you a 'coaching only' package for $735 per week. If you do not have lift tickets already arranged then we would be happy to add them into a package too. Please get in touch to find out more.
You'll receive 20 hours coaching per week. Our full day coaching sessions are Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri, with Wednesdays and the weekends for free skiing, consolidating what you've learnt and other activities. The maximum group size is 7 people per pro but typically they are 6 or even smaller.
In the unlikely event that the ratio of skiers : instructor is 2 or less, we will provide 4 x half day private lessons instead of standard full day group lessons. This will ensure that the trip can run and that you have the best coaching experience.
*Please note during the 2019/20 season the length of some of our 1 week camps may vary and therefore coaching days may vary slightly.
