Resort

Fernie Alpine Resort's consistent snow record and thrilling terrain make it the ideal place to enjoy a one week vacation. Although once you're here you might not want to leave!

Rolling Stone magazine named it "North America's Coolest Town" and that infectious vibe spills onto the mountain.

48cm of snow falls in Fernie per week on average, meaning there are a crazy amount of powder days. Just the size and availability of terrain to suit all standards of snowboarders takes your breath away. It has more trails and a higher vertical than anywhere else in the Canadian Rockies.

Coaching

Exploring a resort on your own can be fun, and so is joining ski school in resort, but there is so much more you can enjoy.

Our coaches aren't the typical ski school instructors. We only select the most experienced and highly qualified snowboard pros who will increase your confidence across the whole mountain.

They train riders of every skill level and spend a load of their time actually teaching other instructors! There really is nobody better equipped to guide you around this legendary alpine resort.

Not only will they take you straight to the sweetest spots on the hill from day one, they will also give you tips, drills and feedback that will improve your technique and broaden your horizons.

Groups

You’ll be grouped with people of similar ability with similar goals to ensure we get the most progression out of you. Whatever your focus, our coaches will help you achieve your goals.

For intermediate snowboarders who are confident on groomed runs, our improvement camps will help take your technique to the next level. Our coaches will work on developing all elements of your technique on groomed trails, before moving onto more advanced terrain to test yourself.

Experienced riders may wish to push themselves in more difficult terrain. On our off-piste camps we won’t waste any time in taking you to the best parts of the mountain and our coaches will help refine your high-end technique in Fernie’s legendary terrain and powder.

Accommodation

Our own hotel, the Red Tree Lodge, acts as the official hub of the course. When the Red Tree gets fully booked we accommodate people at the nearby Best Western; it’s a 5 minute walk away. This causes the overall cost to be more expensive due to the Best Western’s higher rates – so booking early is recommended!

There is the choice of shared or private rooms - regardless of whether you are travelling alone.  Rooms are spacious with queen sized beds, en suite bathrooms and widescreen TVs. Breakfats will be served at your hotel & inclusive evening meals are served at the Smokehouse, on site at the Red Tree Lodge. There are plenty more bars, restaurants and shops within a short walk.

Each morning we'll take you on a short bus ride to the mountain, where your snowboard is stored overnight, ready for an epic day on the slopes!

Typical Day Here's what a typical coaching day in Fernie will involve. At the weekends, free ride and consolidate your skills, or explore and rest.
0700
Wake up to the sound of the ski patrol bombing the mountain because there's been a fresh dump of snow. Energise with breakfast.
0900
Meet your group and discuss the day's objectives. Your coach will find the best snow. Be prepared to learn, progress and have fun.
1200
You'll need to stop at some point. Reflect on a great morning and the wipe outs over lunch. Maybe try some Canadian poutine.
1300
Ride some more until your legs give up. Consolidate the skills you were working on in the morning with more mileage and drills.
1500
With coaching for the day complete, enjoy a freeride, head back to your favourite runs or go hit the après early.
1600
Share a jug of beer in the Griz with friends. Head back to the lodge for a hot tub. There might be a tech talk on board maintenance or biomechanics.
1800
Relax over a well earned dinner as you swap stories from the day's adventures with your snowboard buddies. Lots of chatter in anticipation of the next day.
2000
Head into downtown Fernie for a drink. Embrace Canadian life and cheer on the local ice hockey team. Or just kick back in the movie room.
