Set off on a freeride adventure in the Southern Alps, where you’ll level up your skills and connect with fellow riders in freeski-heaven Serre Chevalier over two weeks. With expert coaching in off-piste technique and avalanche safety, you’ll be prepared for weekly Nonstop away days, discovering even more epic terrain.
///
Join us on this two-week itinerary comprising back-to-back one-week camps in one of France’s largest ski resorts, designed to take your all-mountain skiing to the next level. With many past riders sharing that one week just wasn’t enough, we decided to combine back-to-back weeks to create this extended adventure. Ideal for intermediate to expert skiers, this camp will help you navigate steeper lines with confidence, while exploring some of the best resort-accessed freeride terrain in the Alps and soaking up the local French ski culture.
Set in Serre Chevalier, a resort famous for its vast, uncrowded slopes and sprawling terrain, this do-it-all camp features 12 days of professional coaching and expert guiding. With an off-piste lean, you’ll also be learning avalanche safety essentials to make smarter decisions on the mountain. Plus, each week we’ll venture on an away day to a nearby resort, selected based on group preferences and snow conditions.
You’ll be staying in the picturesque village of Villeneuve, just minutes from the Aravet gondola, at a cosy ski hotel. With limited spaces available, you’ll share this unforgettable experience with like-minded skiers, making lasting connections as you take on the mountains together.
A hidden freeride gem of the Alps, Serre Chevalier is one of the largest resorts in Europe, with beautiful tree skiing and wild off-piste, all set within a valley of charming alpine villages.
Situated in the Southern Alps of France, the ski area is colossal with 250km of slopes and 80 marked runs, featuring perfect groomers, a 9km leg-burner, and the Luc Alphand Olympic black run. For us, there’s big freeride potential with everything from powdery bowls, tree skiing through the larch forests, accessible off-piste, and wild backcountry routes.
The area has a rich ski heritage, comprising four main villages in the Guisane Valley: Briançon, Chantemerle, as well as other smaller local hamlets. Each unique, but traditionally French and historic, cosy bars and restaurants are home to a laid-back après ski vibe. Easily move between villages via a shuttle, to explore their local history, shops and character.
This camp utilises the varied freeride terrain in Serre Chevalier to develop your all-mountain prowess. Through drills, tips and guiding, expert coaches will push you at the perfect pace in ability-based groups to maximise your progression.
Please note that this two-week program features two back-to-back one-week camps, letting us better match groups by skill level. After the first week, one-week participants will leave, and a new group of riders will join for the second week.
We’ve teamed up with expert local coaches who know Serre Chevalier’s vast and varied terrain options as well as anyone in the valley. They will be guiding you in small but ability-based groups – of no more than 7 riders – around Serre Chevalier’s natural bowls, gulleys and larch forests to polish your freeride skills. We’ll be developing your all-mountain technique, boosting your skills and confidence in steeps, powder, chop and trees.
Throughout the camp you will be equipped with avalanche gear – a transceiver, shovel and probe – allowing us to milk the wild but accessible off-piste options, often via short book-packs and traverses. Coaches will be leading avalanche safety masterclasses throughout as you become familiar with the equipment, making sensible choices, and peer rescue techniques – although we’ll always be skiing in low-risk terrain.
The camp also features an away day as we take the group to a nearby resort mid-way through each week.We'll be flexible in choosing the exact day and location based on group appetite, weather outlook and snow conditions – but options rotate between historic backcountry mecca La Grave, the French region of Queyras, or Cesana in the Italian Alps. We'll travel as a group and pick up our lift tickets, before a fun day of exploration.
You’ll stay in Hotel Mont Thabor, a homely ski lodge based in the beautiful village of Villeneuve, steps away from the historic centre.
The location of the lodge couldn’t be more ideal: just a few minutes from the Aravet gondola, where we will meet each morning, as well as close to a bus stop to get around the valley. The hotel features traditional en-suite bedrooms, with twin-share and private options available. There’s a large communal area and bar where Nonstop guests can hang out, with fresh cocktails, local beers and bar snacks on the menu. There’s also a modern wellness centre, equipped with a sauna, steam room and hot tub, although this costs extra. Run passionately by French local Antonine, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
A hearty continental breakfast is served daily, including juices, coffee and tea, chacuterie meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereals, jams, baguette, brioche, pain au chocolates and croissants.
Four group dinners are arranged each week at a selection of fantastic local restaurants. These events provide a social occasion to get together with others on the course to reminisce on the day’s adventures and share a delicious dinner together. Think fondues, tartiflette, salads and hearty pasta dishes.
On the other nights you are free to explore and there are dozens of wonderful restaurants that we can recommend, and typically Nonstop guests are keen to dine together.
