We all know that as we continue to progress, skiing will feel even better. If you're still focused on becoming the best skier you can be (and have your CSIA Level 2 ski instructor certification) then we will help you make the leap to the heights of a Level 3 skier.
Fernie is a mountain that'll improve your skiing as much as the coaching will! It's got all terrain types from narrow chutes, steep tree runs, open bowls, and fantastic groomers. Plus the powder is legendary with typically over 11m of dry light snow per winter.
If you haven't skied there already, you won't "get it" until you've experienced it, but these stats tell some of the story: #1 North American Resort - World Snow Awards, Longest Vertical in the Canadian Rockies, Most number of runs in the Canadian Rockies, North America's Coolest Town - Rolling Stone Magazine.
Whether you're training towards your Level-3 or you're simply after focused Level-3 standard tuition in a structured coaching environment, our 2-week package is ideal.
We have timed the course so that there are CSIA courses and exams just after the course ends. This gives you the option to take the courses and exam on the same trip. However you decide to do it, we aim to successfully prepare you for the CSIA Level 3 standard. Gaining this qualification is no easy feat but with our focused coaching we'll make it both an achievable and fun goal.
You should have a good level of fitness in preparation for the intensive coaching and skiing that will be offered 5 hours per day. The first 2.5 days of the coaching weeks will be spent developing your personal skiing skills to perform and demonstrate the CSIA technique at the Level 3 standard. The remaining 1.5 days of each week are reserved for developing your teaching strategies and practicing teaching in preparation for the Level 3 course. The group will be made up of just 6 skiers so you will have lots of dedicated training time. Video analysis will be proved each week and indoor tech sessions will be provided each week to compliment the on-snow training.
As with any course, your enjoyment of the coaching, and your success in the Level 3 exam - if you choose to challenge it - will be highly dependent on the quality and the characters of your trainers. Fernie's steep terrain and unbeatable snowfall attracts super passionate skiers which means there's a higher than average number of high-end pros that call Fernie their home. These pros are not only experienced Level 4 instructors but have a wealth of experience training people to gain the Level 3 certification including conducting the courses and exams. The coaching on this course is provided by a team of Level 4 pros, several of whom are Level 3 course conductors, who have over 100 years of instructing experience between them. You couldn't choose to be in better hands.
Enjoy two weeks of high-end ski improvement with focused Nonstop training at the Level 3 standard. For those keen to achieve their Level 3 certification we have scheduled the CSIA Skier Development, Teacher Development courses (each 3 days) and the Level 3 exam in the weeks after the Nonstop coaching.
Please note that the CSIA Level 3 courses and exam are delivered by the CSIA and are an independent program of Nonstop. Our goal is to successfully prepare you for this exam, which will take place during the week after our program.
The CSIA Level 3 Program is offered in a Skiing and Teaching “Track”. To acquire the complete Level 3 Certification, Members must pass both of the related Skiing and Teaching components, however independent development in either of the Tracks is also possible. For example, upon completion of the Level 3 Skier Development Course, a Member is able to proceed to the Level 3 Ski Exam if they choose. The same is true of the Teaching Track, provided they have achieved success on the Level 2 Teach Exam.
The course is suitable for skiers with a range of personal objectives: You may be a skier focused on achieving your Level 3 certification so that you can develop your instructor career, or are simply keen to progress your personal skiing and enjoy learning in a certification-focused coaching environment. Either way, this course is catered for you. Of course you must have passed both the skiing and teaching components of the CSIA Level 2 Instructor Course before joining us.
We want you to be able to focus 100% on your training so that your chances of success are maximised. We'll arrange everything for your time in Fernie from the training, season lift pass, transport, comfortable accommodation, tasty and nutritious meals, plus a range of regular social events to ensure you're getting the full Nonstop experience off snow.
During the course you'll stay at our very own Red Tree Lodge. It's the perfect place to kick back and relax after a hard day training on the mountain. All your needs are catered for, with spacious beds, hot tub, games room, on site bar and restaurant, movie room and more. The centre of Fernie is only a short walk away so if you fancy a bit of après, or want to check out one of the local restaurants, it's all there for you.
Our 2-weeks of focused Level 3 coaching is delievered 4 x 5 hour days per week by Level 4 instructors and led by current Level 3 examiners. The maximum group size is 6 people per pro but typically they are even smaller. The cost of the CSIA courses & exam are not included in our course package because participants, as existing CSIA members, are required to enrol and pay for these CSIA events themselves.
