Thanks for joining us – you’re locked in for the ride of a lifetime. You won’t just level up your skiing or snowboarding — you’ll train hard, push your limits, and walk away with qualifications to back it up. Along the way, you’ll meet an incredible mix of people from around the world and form a crew of lifelong mates.

Travel and Visas

We will be providing transfers from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes on 09 January and a return transfer on 20 March

 

Saturday 09 January – transfer will depart from Grenoble Airport at 2:00pm*

 

Saturday 20 March – transfer will arrive at Grenoble Airport at approx 10:30am

 

Please opt for flights that land/depart with plenty of time to get through the airport. Most flights tend to land fairly early on a Saturday morning and depart early afternoon, so these transfers will align nicely.

 

*once we have everyone’s flight info, we may be able to move this departure time forward a little if everyone is on early flights.

Once you have made your plans, please complete the short travel survey so that we know whether you would like a place on the transfer or not. You will need your Nonstop Booking ID which can be found on your Booking Confirmation.

 

Please note that you cannot check into the hotel until 4pm on 09 January, unless you have made prior arrangements.

 

 

Entry Requirements for Non EU Citizens

In 2026 there are due to be big changes coming with the introduction of the ETIAS visa for entry to the Schengen Area. The ETIAS is a visitor visa (similar to the American ESTA and the Canadian eTA).

 

There have been several delays, and we now suspect it will be rolled out after your course starts. You can find out everything that you need to know for now here: ETIAS News & Information For Visitors Coming To Europe

 

While we’re still waiting for the full roll out of the delayed ETIAS visa, the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is slowly being rolled out at EU airports from October 2025 onwards. This means that on arrival to France, in addition to the personal information in your passport, you may be required to give biometric data, including facial image and/or fingerprints and information about your stay.

This isn’t a huge change but may mean longer waits at immigration when you arrive in France. As always, we’ll include the hotel addresses in the transfer/arrival email that we send out a week before your course starts. We also recommend having a copy of your Nonstop invoice to hand in case you are asked for proof of what you are doing in France.

 

If you are travelling on non EU passport please check that you comply with the 90 day rule here (particularly relevant to British passport holders who previously had unlimited entry to the EU)

Insurance

Having the right travel and snowsports insurance is essential for your trip — make sure you’re fully covered. You are responsible for purchasing a policy that suits your needs. Be sure to read the policy wording carefully to confirm it includes everything required for your course and travel plans.

 

If you’re travelling from overseas, you’ll need comprehensive travel insurance that includes winter sports. If you’re based in the EU, you may have health cover but still need to look for a policy that covers trip curtailment, loss or theft of valuables, and medical expenses.

Packing for life in the mountains can feel overwhelming — especially when you want to be prepared without overloading your luggage. But don’t worry — we’re here to help. And once you arrive, you’ll quickly figure out what works best to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable, both on the slopes and around town.

 

To help you get started, we’ve put together a full gear checklist with practical tips in our Equipment Guide — plus a snapshot of the essentials below, whether you’re bringing your own kit or planning to buy in resort.

 

 

Skis & Boots

 

Buying the right gear for your course is really important, the right skis/board will make all the difference in your exams.

 

Schuss Sports: Schuss Sport – Sports shop in Les 2 Alpes (schuss-sport.com), a brilliant store in L2A, have now released the pre-order options, and have included a discounted rate for Nonstoppers. This equipment has been specially selected as it is most suitable for the course and complies with the BASI recommendations too.

Snowboarders

There is a bit more flexibility when it comes to what board works best for the BASI course. Please email info@tiptopskicoaching.com and let them know what you need; snowboard, boots, avi pack. Please also let them know your height, weight and shoe size, plus details of what type of board you like / usually like to use.

 

It’s worth ordering now so that they have time to order in and before the early season rush.

Bank Card

 

One thing we think is especially useful on course is a Revolut (or similar, but Revolut tends to be the most popular) card. L2A is still a cash society with minimum charges for card use. Therefore you will frequently need cash, and that can be expensive to keep withdrawing, especially for Brits since Brexit. We use Revolut to take payments in resort too.

Ski / Snowboard Kit
  • Skis + Bindings + Poles / Snowboard + Bindings
    Go for an all-mountain ski or board for versatility across groomers, powder, and mixed terrain — ideal for the conditions you’ll ride
  • Ski Boots / Snowboard Boots
    Professionally-fitted boots are a priority for both comfort and performance
  • Goggles
    An interchangeable lens system is advised — covering low light, cloud, and bright conditions
  • Helmet
    A must for safety — warm, lightweight, and designed to protect against impacts. Check goggle compatibility for a secure, comfortable fit.
  • Backpack
    For carrying your avalanche gear, extra layers, gear, snacks, or anything you need on the mountain
  • Avalanche Safety Equipment
    Transceiver, probe, and shovel

Slope Apparel
  • Base Layers
    Merino wool base layers are ideal — warm, breathable, and naturally odour-resistant
  • Mid Layer
    A light fleece or synthetic layer worn over your base for added warmth
  • Insulating Layer
    A thicker fleece or down puffy — essential for cold days and layering versatility
  • Ski Jacket / Shell
    A waterproof, breathable outer layer to keep you dry and protected from the elements
  • Ski Pants
    Waterproof and breathable pants designed for snow, wind, and durability on the mountain
  • Ski Socks
    Three or four pairs. Go for well-fitting, thinner socks — better than thick, bulky ones. A merino wool–synthetic blend is ideal for warmth and breathability.
  • Mitts / Gloves
    Two pairs are optimal in case one gets wet or goes missing. Mitts are warmer than gloves, but having both gives you flexibility for changing conditions.
  • Liner Gloves
    Thin, lightweight gloves for extra warmth — touchscreen-compatible fingertips make them great for using your phone without freezing your hands
  • Neck Tube
    A versatile, breathable fabric tube essential for cold, windy, or snowy days — great for neck and face protection on the mountain
  • Hat / Beanie
    Essential for keeping your head warm off the slopes — choose something stylish and snug
