The Weeks Leading Up

On our 11-week instructor courses in Canada, riders spend the first three weeks working towards their CSIA Level 1 (skiing) or CASI Level 1 (snowboarding). These initial weeks are all about building the foundations — developing strong technical skills, introducing teaching methodology, and bonding together as a team. Focused Level 1 preparation runs throughout this period, giving riders the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to approach assessment week ready to perform.

Technical Foundations

Riders focus on developing their technical skills, refining balance, edge control, turn shape, and movement patterns. The emphasis is on understanding why adjustments work and applying them consistently across different terrain, not just on riding better.

Learning to Teach

Alongside personal riding, participants develop their teaching skills. They practice structuring lessons, giving clear feedback, and demonstrating movements effectively, following the CSIA and CASI methodologies. Mock scenarios, peer feedback, and coaching sessions help riders turn personal ability into teachable skills.

Working as a Team

Teamwork becomes a natural part of the process too. Riders support each other during drills, practice lessons together, and share feedback. By the time the exam arrives, the sense of achievement is shared across the group.

Exam Week

Week four is assessment week. The exam is spread over three days of ongoing, supported evaluation. Riders are guided by their examiners throughout, ensuring they understand the process and feel confident to perform.

During assessment, technical and teaching skills are continually developed. The professional and structured approach, combined with ongoing support, ensures the exam is both an assessment and a continuation of learning.

Landing the Pin

That moment when our riders receive their certification and pin is one that they’ll remember for a while. Stoked, proud, and buzzing with energy. High-fives, hugs, and a real sense of accomplishment. The after party is always off the charts — it’s the culmination of hard work, teamwork, and consistent training.
