Master the Mountain Ski Camp

This Master the Mountain experience is a month-long progression that blends two back-to-back camps into one unforgettable adventure. You’ll kick things off by sharpening your skills on the 2-week All-Mountain Camp, then shift gears and go deeper into the wild with the 2-week Tour + Explore Camp.

This camp is for strong intermediate to expert skiers looking to advance their all-mountain and backcountry skills in a rugged, powder-rich environment. Whether you want to refine your technique, build avalanche awareness, or explore off-the-beaten-path terrain, this is your next step. Perfect for solo riders, couples, or friends seeking a social group dynamic and a deep dive into Fernie’s freeride culture.

• Sharpen your ski technique across a range of terrain – including powder, trees, steeps, and bumps.
• Learn how to choose lines and maintain flow in challenging all-mountain environments.
• Develop foundational avalanche safety knowledge – use of a transceiver, probe, and shovel, and practice essential companion rescue skills.
• Get to grips with the basics of ski touring – from skinning techniques and transitions to gear management and route planning.
• Prepare for the Boulder Hut finale: a multi-day backcountry touring experience requiring strong touring skills and mountain awareness.

• Safe and controlled skiing on blue/red terrain with solid intermediate technique.
• Experience skiing easy off-piste may be helpful but is not required.
• A good level of general fitness.

• Skis, bindings, boots and poles. We recommend an all-mountain ski (85-100mm underfoot) — go wider for extra float in powder, without sacrificing versatility on groomers and mixed terrain. For boots, we suggest ones with a flexible cuff and walk mode (like a slackcountry boot) to make touring more comfortable and efficient.
• Helmet, gloves and goggles.
• Jacket, pants, mid and base layers.
• Sufficient clothing to keep warm for days spent on the mountain, expect sub-zero temps.
• Touring skis (with frame bindings to accommodate all boot types), skins, avalanche equipment, and a daypack are provided for any featured touring days — though you’re welcome to bring your own gear.
