Tour + Explore Backcountry Ski Camp

This camp is for confident skiers who want to push beyond the resort and start exploring the backcountry. Whether you’re new to touring or looking to sharpen your backcountry skills, this is your gateway to deeper snow and bigger adventures. You should be comfortable riding powder, trees, and steeper terrain — but no touring experience is needed. If you’re up for the challenge, ready to learn, and keen to unplug for a true wilderness experience, you’ll be right at home.

• Sharpen your ski technique across a range of terrain – including powder, trees, steeps, and bumps.
• Develop foundational avalanche safety knowledge – use of a transceiver, probe, and shovel, and practice essential companion rescue skills.
• Learn the basics of ski touring – including gear use, uphill travel, and navigation in remote terrain.
• Prepare for the Boulder Hut finale: a multi-day backcountry touring experience requiring strong touring skills and mountain awareness.

• Safe and controlled skiing on black terrain with solid technique.
• Ski touring experience may be helpful but is not required.
• A good level of general fitness for full days of skiing and touring.

• Skis, bindings, boots and poles. We recommend an all-mountain ski (85-100mm underfoot) — go wider for extra float in powder, without sacrificing versatility on groomers and mixed terrain. For boots, we suggest ones with a flexible cuff and walk mode (like a slackcountry boot) to make touring more comfortable and efficient.
• Helmet, gloves and goggles.
• Jacket, pants, mid and base layers.
• Sufficient clothing to keep warm for days spent on the mountain, expect sub-zero temps.
• Touring skis (with frame bindings to accommodate all boot types), skins, avalanche equipment, and a daypack are provided for any featured touring days — though you’re welcome to bring your own gear.
