Full Course Story 8 Weeks in Fernie, Canada

Train for one of the most respected and adrenaline-fuelled roles in the mountains. Designed for advanced skiers, this vocational course equips you with the skills, certs, and mindset to become a professional ski patroller — blending technical rescue training with practical mountain expertise.

Over eight immersive weeks, you’ll learn from industry pros through a mix of fieldwork and theory. From avalanche rescue, rope work, and snowmobile ops to emergency care and scene management, you’ll work toward key certifications including Avalanche Skills Training 1, Non-Urban Emergency Care, and Avalanche Search and Rescue 1.

Set in Fernie — one of Canada’s top powder spots and a hub for patrol innovation — you’ll train on steep, dynamic terrain with one of North America’s most respected patrol teams. Situated in a series of natural bowls above a friendly mountain town, Fernie’s deep snowpack and expert-only zones make it the perfect proving ground.

Training days are intense and hands-on, while days off are your time to freeride and soak up the lifestyle. You’ll need to be a strong skier to join, and with places strictly limited, this course is for those serious about stepping into the world of professional ski patrol.
