Our 3 week snowboard instructor course in Fernie is popular amongst aspiring instructors and riders just looking to hone their skills. Fernie is the ideal place to push the boundaries of your riding and get your CASI Level 1. This fast track is perfect for relatively confident snowboarders.
Fernie Alpine Resort has amazing terrain, great snow record and welcoming vibe...we could go on all day with reasons to visit. Nonstop was created as a result of our love of this remarkable place.
Five bowls filled with an enormous variety of demanding terrain, a snow record that is off the chart and barely any lift lines. If you want to ride powder this winter, without fighting for fresh lines before they all go, Fernie is the place to be. Renowned for "legendary powder", there is an average 48cms snowfall every week that the resort is open. It doesn't get better than that!
The charming old mining town combines a relaxed and friendly vibe with fun and lively nightlife.
We set up Nonstop in Fernie in 2002 and most of the team have been with us since the very beginning. Our dedicated and highly skilled CASI Level 3 and 4 coaches know just how to provide the perfect training experience.
Over a fairly short period of time we will completely transform your technique and will have you confidently riding the whole mountain, with the style and grace of an instructor.
By the time you reach your exams in the final week of the course, you'll have the skills required to pass on your newly refined technique to others.
You'll receive coaching working towards the first level of the Canadian system, CASI Level 1. Although this is an ideal stepping stone to the Canadian snowboard instructor industry, many come on this course without any plans to become a snowboard instructor. We will dramatically improve your riding technique and confidence around the whole mountain.
By learning how to teach, analyse and correct snowboarding from the ground up, you'll be able to progress your own riding even after the course has finished.
Although you'll be spending plenty of time exploring Fernie's amazing resort area, there's even more that we'll help your to squeeze into just three weeks.
In the evenings we organise technical sessions and plenty of social events, such as trips to see the local ice hockey team. Plus, we can get you onto an avalanche safety course as well as a cat boarding day, where you'll ride fresh backcountry snow all day.
You'll stay at our lodge, the Red Tree, in the heart of Fernie. The lodge has an amazing range of facilities including hot tub, sauna, ski tuning room, movie theatre, bar and restaurant, as well as large comfortable rooms with queen sized beds and en suite bathrooms. You'll need to keep your energy levels up, so we provide breakfasts seven days a week and evening meals three days a week.
You'll receive 20 hours coaching per week. Our full day coaching sessions are Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri, with Wednesdays and the weekends for free skiing, consolidating what you've learnt and other activities. The maximum group size is 8 people per pro but typically they are even smaller.
Stay in the Red Tree Lodge and enjoy the following facilities:
You'll be treated to a hearty breakfast at the Red Tree Lodge seven days per week. Options include coffee/tea, juices, cereals, toast, pastries, yogurt, fruit, porridge oats, as well as hot items like eggs, beans, sausages, hash browns or bacon.
Enjoy a three course meal at the Red Tree Lodge three evenings a week.
You'll have a 20 day pass included in the course.

Each week you'll receive a technical talk on subjects like biomechanics, looking after your gear, and injury prevention.
You'll be given an 'Instructor Starter Kit' booklet with a directory of ski school contacts, receive a seminar on 'Working as an Instructor', and be given constant advice from our coaches. Additionally, interviews with local ski school are available.
