Fernie doesn't do things by halves — deep powder, proper terrain, and a mountain town that pulls you back year after year. This is a week built around snowboarding the way it's supposed to feel.

Full Course Story 1 week in Fernie, Canada

Fernie has a reputation. Five bowls, a deep snowpack, and terrain that rewards riders who know how to read a mountain. This week puts you right in the middle of it — with the coaching, the crew, and six days on snow to actually do it justice.

Your Nonstop coaches know this place inside out. They know where the powder holds after a storm, which lines open up when conditions are right, and how to get the best out of every rider in the group. The five coaching sessions are built around you — your riding, your goals, where you want to take it — whether that’s finding your feet in deep powder, unlocking steeper terrain, threading trees, or finally owning your edge on open groomers.

A free day built into the middle of the week gives you space to rest up, ride solo, or just let the first half sink in. Either way, your body adapts, your confidence builds, and by the end of the week your riding has shifted in ways a single trip rarely delivers. Whether you’re here for the early season energy and the first big dumps, or the long spring days when Fernie just gives and gives — both work.

Evenings take care of themselves. The Griz, good food, people who’ve just had the same kind of day as you. Solo riders slot straight into the group — it tends to become one of those weeks people talk about for a while after.

The week starts in Calgary before the transfer west into the mountains. A few hours on the road — then you’re in Fernie. Unpack, rest up. The mountain’s not going anywhere, but tomorrow comes fast.

Straight into it. After breakfast and a quick orientation, you’re on the hill for day one — getting legs moving, finding early rhythm, and exploring the terrain with your coach and group. It’s your first taste of the bowls, the trees, and the freeride lines that made this place famous. The evening rolls into welcome drinks and food.

This is where the week starts clicking. Sessions build with the conditions and the group — powder runs, steeps, trees and technical lines through Fernie’s iconic bowls. Every day stacks on the last. Off snow, evenings are all about recovery, après, and settling into the rhythm of Fernie life

Midweek is yours to own. Freeski the best lines from your first days, or dial it back with recovery and exploring town. Whatever the mountain calls for, you set the pace.

The mountain starts opening up differently now. Confidence is up, instincts are sharper, and the final coaching days push into tougher lines, bigger terrain, and more of Fernie’s steeps and technical zones than you were ready for on day one. Friday night ends the way it should — one last après, end-of-week send-off, stories from the week.

Saturday morning comes around quickly. Last coffee, final goodbyes, transfer back to Calgary. Tired legs, stronger riding, and a week’s worth of memories from deep in the BC mountains.

Fernie is a skier’s dream: raw, rugged and endlessly rideable. Home to five legendary alpine bowls – Cedar, Lizard, Currie, Timber and Siberia – this mountain is built for exploration. Whether you're carving groomers or dropping into steep chutes, Fernie serves up some of the most varied and exciting terrain in North America.

Fernie’s snowfall is the stuff of legend. With an average of 10 metres per season, it’s one of the snowiest resorts in the Rockies – and the quality is just as impressive as the quantity. A combination of the horse-shoe shape of the bowls, local weather systems and Pacific fronts are to thank for Fernie’s frequent dumps and feather-light flakes.

Fernie hits different than a typical ski area – it’s a real-deal mountain town full of soul and energy. Hidden in the southeast corner of British Columbia, Fernie is shaped by powder-loving locals who live for the mountain. As the rule goes, shops close if it’s a big pow day, 20 cennies plus! Downtown brings its own vibe, with indie shops, local coffee spots, good eats, an old-school cinema, and a community that welcomes newcomers like old friends.

Fernie’s après and nightlife strike a perfect balance, with everything from lively to low-key. The go-to après hangout is all about the Griz Bar at the base of the ski hill – grab jugs of Kokanee with your mates, play a bit of pool, or vibe out on sun deck in spring. Back in town, there’s lots going on with live music and DJ sets at The Northern, open mic nights at The Brickhouse, and legendary karaoke at the Ranging Elk. The scene has a bit of everything, and it’s damn cool.

Fernie isn't a resort you just turn up and figure out — it's one you need to be taken into properly. The terrain does half the work; the coaching makes sure you're ready for it. This camp is built around riding the mountain properly, with a dedicated Nonstop coach and a group of like-minded riders alongside you all week. The progression is real, the mileage stacks up, and by the end of the week you're riding terrain you wouldn't have touched on day one.

Fernie has a way of pulling you into steeper, more committing terrain — the coaching is there to make sure you’re equipped for it. Powder, trees, steeps, variable snow, side hits, technical freeride lines — sessions evolve around conditions and what the group is ready to take on.

Five coaching days, with a free day built into the middle to rest up or ride on your own terms. Sessions aren’t just drills — they move between technical work, freeride, terrain reading, and adapting to whatever the mountain is offering that day. Video analysis runs throughout the week, giving you a sharper picture of what’s happening in your riding and where the gains are hiding.

Ability matters, but so does attitude. Groups are built around both — the kind of mix that pushes each other naturally, shares lines, and makes the week feel collaborative rather than competitive. Six riders per coach on average. Small enough to get proper attention, social enough to make it a week to remember.

They know Fernie the way locals do — where the snow holds longest, how the terrain changes through the day, which lines are worth hunting down. But it’s not just mountain knowledge. They know how to read a group, when to push and when to pull back, and how to keep the energy right across a full week of riding.

This camp goes beyond just great coaching. It’s about dropping into the rhythm of Fernie for a full week — local experiences, hands-on workshops, and laid-back socials that bring the crew together beyond the slopes.

The free day is yours — no agenda, no alarm, no coaching cues. But if you want ideas, we’ve got plenty. Snowshoeing, snowbiking, or XC skiing are all on the table; a different way to move, explore a side of Fernie most people never find, and come back to the slopes the next day with fresh legs and a fresh perspective.

Once during the week, we take things off-slope and into the detail. A Nonstop workshop covers the stuff that makes a difference — ski tuning, recovery, mobility, movement, mountain know-how — the exact topic rotates through the season, but it’s always practical, hands-on, and useful well beyond the week itself.

From first-night beers to final laps, the week naturally builds a strong social energy. Evenings roll between après spots, local bars, shared dinners, and whatever’s happening around town that week — live music, hockey nights, or low-key nights after a full day on snow. Just good people, tired legs, and a proper week in the mountains.
