Full Course Story 6 weeks in Les 2 Alpes, France

You’ve done the groundwork. Now it’s time to build on it. Our 6-week BASI Level 2 course in Les 2 Alpes is designed for riders who already hold their Level 1 and are ready to take the next step, whether that’s levelling up your instructor career or working toward a personal goal.

However you earned your Level 1, on mountain, dryslope, or indoors in one of the UK’s domes, the Level 2 has to be trained and assessed on real snow. It’s an on-mountain qualification, proving you can ski and teach confidently across proper, variable mountain terrain, which is exactly what this course is built for: six weeks of high-altitude training and varied terrain, with proper coaching to get you exam-ready.

Set in one of Europe’s highest resorts, Les 2 Alpes gives you reliable glacier access and a legendary freestyle scene, matched by the après to go with it. You’ll stay in a chalet-style hotel right on the main street, steps from the lifts and surrounded by the best bars, hangouts, and mountain views.

Each week brings focused training blocks led by our expert coaching team, mixing technical drills, freeride clinics, and teaching practice. You’ll shadow real ski schools, refine your technique, and build the confidence and skillset you need to pass your Level 2 exam and start instructing.

This is also a Nonstop season, which means the vibes go way beyond training. Through our MORE Program, we pack the calendar with weekly socials and side missions, from mountainside après at Pano Bar to parapenting, and everything in between.

Here's how the six weeks shake out in Les 2 Alpes. This is a guideline, but expect progression, epic terrain, and good times along the way.

You land in L2A, settle into the crew, and ease back into life on snow. Early sessions are about knocking off the rust and getting reacquainted with your skiing before training properly ramps up, with some freeride and park laps to mix things up.

Training sharpens up as you lock in the technical foundations behind Level 2 — precise turns, terrain adaptability, and reading the mountain properly. Teaching practice continues alongside, with more focused feedback to refine how you deliver a lesson. By now, L2A starts to feel like home, from fresh lines to sunset après at Pano Bar.

You’ll join qualified instructors on the hill to complete shadowing hours, watching real-world lessons in action and picking up the detail that only comes from time with working instructors. Coaching continues in parallel, with personalised feedback to fine-tune both your riding and your teaching.

Training continues to build, with teaching practice and coaching sharpening both your riding and how you deliver a lesson. You’ll might also spend a day ski touring beyond the resort boundary, adding a bit of variety and building general mountain confidence alongside the core training. By the end of the week you should be feeling genuinely exam-ready.

The big one starts here. The BASI Level 2 exam is split across two five-day blocks, and this is the first — a full-on week of riding, teaching, workshops, and feedback.

The second five-day exam block wraps things up. Bring it all together, and pass, and you’ll be qualified to teach around the world, from Japan to New Zealand. Then it’s time to celebrate: an unforgettable end-of-season party with your Nonstop fam.

Les 2 Alpes is one of Europe’s highest and oldest resorts, linked to off-piste paradise La Grave. Situated in the Massif des Ecrins, the ski area is split into 7 sectors, featuring the largest skiable glacier in Europe, a revered terrain park, plus freeride zone Le Fee. Rising to 3,600m on the Mont de Lans glacier, the slopes are snow-sure, descending to 1,300m for a 2,300m vertical drop.

L2A’s high altitude ensures great snow coverage across the mountain. The resort isn’t known for its powder with around 3 metres of snowfall per season but, like any mountain in the Alps, when the powder Gods are on your side, the days can be epic and there’s plenty of vertical for long powder laps.

Located at 1,650m, L2A’s main village is friendly and lively, with many shops, bars and restaurants to spend your time off the slopes. Deux Alps sits on a high plateau in the valley, known by locals as ‘le plateau’, with a buzzing alpine energy that runs through the streets. The après is big and the traditional village of Venosc provides a pleasant contrast.

For seasonaire life, the vibe is buzzing and the après scene is one of the most vibrant in the Alps. L2A is a party resort, renowned for its mountain-top après at the Pano Bar. L2A also plays host to music festival Rise, which takes place in December each season, bringing together DJs and people from around the world for wild celebrations.

Coaching sessions run Monday to Friday, rotating through technical drills, piste performance, and off-piste coaching. You’ll sharpen skills across all terrain, carving on groomers, powering through steeps and bumps, and riding powder lines, all while prepping for your BASI Level 2 assessment.

You’ll ride in coaching groups of no more than 10, split by ability and goals, keeping the feedback flowing and the crew tight throughout.

Your coaches are seasoned BASI Level 4 ISTDs and local French legends who’ve trained hundreds of instructors and know every inch of Les 2 Alpes. You’ll rotate through different coaches to experience varied perspectives, teaching styles, and terrain choices.

The course builds towards your BASI Level 2 through advanced training, snow school shadowing, and hands-on teaching experience, finishing with the 10-day Level 2 assessment, the gateway to teaching across the world.

How It Works

Les 2 Alpes gives you plenty of ways to push past the training day. Take a tandem parapente flight over the glacier, ride inflatable donuts across the snow, or join the pisteurs at sunrise to help open the mountain before the lifts spin.

L2A doesn’t slow down once the lifts stop. Between après at Pano Bar, nights out in town, group dinners, and low-key hangouts with the crew, the weekly socials keep things moving. You’ll arrive not knowing anyone and leave with a season’s worth of stories and a group chat that never quiets down.
